Impaired Driving

                         

Impaired Driving committee – works to prevent motorists from driving distracted or alcohol impaired through innovative programs, awareness campaigns, education and enforcement. 

According to the CDC, every day, almost 30 people in the United States die in motor vehicle crashes that involve an alcohol-impaired driver. This amounts to one death every 48 minutes.  The annual cost of alcohol-related crashes totals more than $51 billion. 

During 2009 in Franklin County:
Alcohol was suspected in:    
27 Fatal Crashes
407 Injury crashes 

During 2010 in Franklin County
Alcohol was suspected in:
22 Fatal Crashes
347 Injury Crashes 

It is known that during 2009 in Franklin County, 19 alcohol impaired drivers killed themselves in a crash and 4 passengers were killed by an alcohol impaired driver 

It is known that during 2010 in Franklin County, 16 alcohol impaired drivers killed themselves in a crash and 3 passengers were killed by an alcohol impaired driver.
