Intersection safety cameras at hundreds of Texas intersections reduced red light running crashes by 25 percent, including a 33 percent reduction in T-bone crashes. This information was released in a new study done by the Texas Transportation Institute at Texas A&M University. Researchers examined more than 11,000 crashes as intersections with traffic safety cameras to determine the technology reduces crashes. 

“These findings show clearly that red light cameras offer significant safety benefits,” says Troy Walden, the author of the TTI study. “Most important, they help prevent the most severe and deadly type of intersection crashes.
